PPG Architectural Coatings services the North American coatings industry across three channels. We operate 400 retail stores, sell to over 2000 dealers and supply product to large home improvement retailers, such as Lowe's.

The Outside Sales Representative will primarily be responsible for sales growth. The position will be responsible for up to 200 key customer accounts within his/her defined market and segment.
Job responsibilities include:
1. Work within customer organizations to understand needs, identify new sales opportunities and service existing business
2. Negotiate to close business with target and prospective customers and seek all opportunities to open new accounts
3. Manage all activities in compliance with PPG Blueprint objectives, EHS goals, business conduct and code of ethics policies
4. Implement plans to ensure new business is serviced to meet customer requirements
5. Utilize product knowledge, respond to customer needs concerning product specifications, recommendations, application and performance
6. Maintain a good understanding of the market, customers, competition and developments within specialized segment in order to leverage sales opportunities
7. Understand competitor offerings (products & services) and develop counter measures. Keep management informed of competitor activities, promotions and product development
8. Work with the PPG credit department to manage customer debt
9. Manage expenses
10. Achieve Price or Margin Targets
11. Provide guidance and support to help develop Sales Service Reps
Required:
1. At least 3 years experience prospecting for new business
2. A 2 or 4 year degree in a business related field or equivalent work experience
3. Proven track record in negotiating, selling and providing exceptional customer service
4. Ability to analyze territory performance reports and develop strategic sales territory business plans.
5. Ability to understand and utilize high level coatings product knowledge
6. Ability to calculate discounts and profit associated with selling price; ability to calculate commissions associated with territory performance; ability to take measurements and calculate surface area associated with making product volume estimates.
7. Ability to read and understand product data sheets, material safety data sheets, scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents.
8. Ability to analyze problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and write technical reports to communicate the information.
9. Customer service experience with proven ability to resolve customer complaints.
10. Availability to work and travel within assigned territory 90% of time. Periodic evening hours required for trade organization meetings and customer events.
11. Must possess a valid Driver's License and have maintained a motor vehicle record within acceptable limits as prescribed by PPG
Preferred:
1. Previous coatings experience
2. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Internet applications
3. Bilingual candidates are encouraged
