Job Description
POSITION OVERVIEW:Primary responsibilities are to design, develop, optimize and maintain the automated material handling equipment and warehouse control systems in the Distribution Centers including Tilt Tray, Put-to-Light, Garment on Hanger and Shipping Sortation systems. Design, evaluate and implement data collection interfaces, programs and controls in compliance with established network standards. Develop methods and protocols to ensure that appropriate tests and analyses are being conducted to achieve maximum levels of performance.
RESPONSIBILITIES:- Maximize throughput and productivity of all automated material handling equipment sortation and conveyance systems through detailed analysis of production and system metrics. Develop, document and ensure controls and best practices are in place including:
- Ensure all Safety programs and procedures are followed
- Debug/troubleshoot automated machine controls
- Assess, recommend and maintain preventive maintenance programs
- Evaluate existing ladder logic and design control components to support departmental and facility goals. Systems include but not limited to photo eyes, motor starters, relays, limit switches, proximity sensors, timers, solenoids, servo drives, frequency inverters, linear drives, tachs, and encoders
- Enhance existing PLC programs (structured text and ladder logic), components (CPU back planes, I/O boards, counters, modules, and devices), and communications modules (Ethernet) as required to deliver operationally-ready technology solutions
- Troubleshoot control system hardware, application software, and data communication device issues
- Project planning, project management and cost analysis
- Work closely with DC Operations and Distribution Engineers to design and implement system changes and improvements. Perform data mining and analytical support to local system users. Provide technical support and training to local users.
- Prepare detailed documentation and material equipment user guides on system functionality controls, revisions and procedures.
