Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW:The Solution Architect is a senior member of the Technical Services Group, responsible for evaluating existing systems and technologies, developing strategic solutions and ‘blueprints’ to stated business challenges, focusing on the Enterprise infrastructure architecture. This position requires design, research, and evaluation of new hardware and software that improves and enhances our Enterprise Systems reliability, availability and serviceability. This individual will collaborate with both internal and external partners to ensure that technology decisions/blueprints fit within the overall Enterprise Architecture Framework. This position’s area of focus will primarily center on Storage and related technologies, but will include Server, Database, Network, and Operating System elements as well. The Solution Architect will have deep experience in IT Technology solutions, including excellent functional and technical skills, firm understanding of industry best practices in the various aspects of IT, technology trends, and retail business knowledge. He/she will demonstrate effective written and oral communication skills, deep analytical skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to drive consensus.RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Direct the design, development, and implementation of hardware/software solutions that enhance or extend the Enterprise Storage, Backup, and Data Management Infrastructures
  • In conjunction with other Solution Architects, develop a view of current and future state business and application architecture that is well connected with business strategy. Identify the business requirements that affect the business/application architecture and provide solutions that mesh into the overall architectural vision
  • Develop and influence standards, architectural governance, architectural design patterns and best practices. Provide technical expertise, guidance, and strategic recommendations to other IT groups.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies with other Solution Architects; develop the associated strategic roadmap, ensuring that current and planned technical solutions are compatible with the company's business needs and strategic objectives.
  • Provide leadership role by participating in the Extended Architecture Review Board (eARB) to help guide development of IT systems solutions that are aligned to the overall architecture vision.
  • Interface with vendors and technology partners as required
  • Provide escalation support to other IT staff in high priority issue resolution
  • Performance of other duties and responsibilities as directed.

Job Requirements

  • Ideal candidate has at least 5-10 years plus experience in successful deployment of distributed enterprise solutions.
  • Proven history of developing blueprints for large projects, with accurate estimates of resource requirements and costs. MS Project, Power Point and Visio conversant
  • Ability to develop and communicate vision with user groups, technical organizations, and management teams utilizing strong presentation skills combined with solid technical background.
  • Ideal candidate will have strong understanding of future industry trends in storage and related technologies
  • Strong knowledge of integration with multiple technologies, architectures and operational standards.
  • Possesses working knowledge of systems and databases, with emphasis on storage hardware and storage software products
  • Industry certifications as appropriate
  • Ability to conduct technical quality assurance assessment as required.
  • Able to work as a team player in a collaborative environment.
