Ocean Customer Support II

Job Description

UPS Supply Chain Solutions is seeking an Ocean Customer Support Rep II who will impact the organization by managing multiple tasks simultaneously, in a fast-paced environment, with minimal supervision and high attention to detail. He/She will possess a thorough understanding of UPS SCS services and the correlation of the functions as it relates to providing excellent service to the customer. The ideal candidate will have one to three years' customer service experience in the freight forwarding, transportation or brokerage industry. Responsibilities and Duties

  • Acts as a liaison between UPS Freight Forwarding and our external/internal customers, and manages customer expectations
  • Involves ocean freight analysis, review rates, and tracks and traces information to the customer
  • Processes international shipments and ensures specific customer requirements are followed   
  • Processes shipments and dispatches delivery orders and pickup orders in accordance with UPS and governmental policy and regulations
  • Prepares reports, customer set ups, updating customer profiles, investigates status of existing service requests
  • Determines most efficient shipping method for orders and engages with ocean and rail 3PLs
  • Performs various ad hoc tasks as needed                                                 

Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong customer service skills and problem solving acumen
  • Minimum of one year customer service experience
  • In-depth understanding of ocean transportation regulations & functions, brokerage industry, freight forwarding routing or ability to acquire desired knowledge
  • Effective communication skills both oral and written
  • Proficient Microsoft Office skills
  • General administrative skills
  • Detail oriented and organized
  • Multitasker with ability to work in a team environment or independently
  • Systems knowledge and experience
